​​The Artisan Sewing & Fashion Academy offers sessions for students
to not only complete projects but learn and build lifelong sewing skills.

Our well-appointed new Artisan studio includes everything you need to begin your in person sewing education. Each student has full access to generously-sized cutting tables, sewing machines, an ironing station, scissors, pins, ​educational materials, and more!

10 Things Patterns Assume You Already Know
Learn the unspoken techniques
to have your project come out great the first time

Pattern companies mean well with their labels.

but they assume you know things!
In this class, you will learn the information you need to create your sewing projects successfully.

Previous sewing experience is recommended, however this course will not include sewing.

Achieve the Fit:
Pattern Alteration Techniques

​Gain an overview of
​fitting techniques and pattern adjustments:
bust, biceps, darts and more!
Geared for intermediate makers looking to wear a garment you are proud of,
you will work with sample patterns to make common changes.
Learn how to translate garment issues to the flat pattern.

Intro to Fashion Design: 
Create a Mini Collection
Take an idea and turn it into an eight-look collection.
Learn basic design techniques including moodboards, color theory, figure drawing, silhouettes, and fashion rendering.

​NOTE:
This is a fashion design class,
but it does NOT include sewing the garments.
Supply list will be included with confirmation.

Intro to Sewing: 
Learn to Use Your Sewing Machine
If you are new to sewing or need a refresher, this one-afternoon afternoon workshop will take you from threading your machine to making a drawstring bag.
Learn the tools and terms to get you creating!

​Tuition includes all supplies, but students who own sewing machines are encouraged to bring them. A limited number of machines are available; if you do not own a machine, please reserve one as early as possible.

Lounge Pants: 
Make a Wardrobe Staple
​Comfortable sewing on a machine and
ready to take on your first garment project?
This one-day workshop is for you!
Create your own elastic waist PJ pants
using a sewing pattern
as you learn how to choose the appropriate size, adjust for length, and follow pattern instructions.
Supply list will be included with confirmation. (Estimated maximum cost: $40)
Students who own sewing machines are encouraged to bring them. A limited number of machines are available; if you do not own a machine, please reserve one as early as possible.
